Actron CP9145 Best buy on a code scanner that i could find

i had been wanting a scanner for awhile and checked them out at many stores and on the web all over the world, and this was the best buy that i could find. works great, is fully upgradeable for next generation can protocol, with all the accessories will work on obd1 as well as obd11 and can. the price is allmost $200 cheaper than at another well known automotive dealer. in my opinion, if you find a better deal--- it is stolen!!! well worth the price and can save you much more than the cost with 1 use. i am tickled with mine .

Yes i bought and recieved this item and have already used it several times and works great does everything it says it will, bought the lower ended one first and it didnt work but had no problems with sending it back and getting my refund and buying this one.

Actron CP9145 Works as advertised... built well

The CP9145 functioned well from the first time I used it. The unit is very intuitive as far as setup and use. I was curious whether it was up to date as far as C.A.N. use. I opened the unit and saw that it was the latest hardware. It has already saved me more money than I paid for it!

Actron CP9145 Does the Job

It is easy to use, up and running in less than two minutes. Will not fix your car for you but will give you a code and you would go online to do research on the code to fix it yourself. You may have to go to the dealer to get the car fixed but at least when you walk in that door, you have the correct knowledge of it.

Just have the correct expectation for this product... you're not buying a mechanic.

Actron CP9145 I like it a lot

I've done quite a bit of work from complete engine rebuilds, transmissions, rear axle assemblies, and the dreaded tinkering with the electronics. These parts are usually safely out of sight until something won't work and you happily can not find the sensor or the coupler its supposed to be linked to. Tilting an engine to locate and O2 sensor is not a great way to spend a day. There is no way around this stuff as its here and when something does not work it is just plain time consuming. I use this thing and I did buy the OBDI cable for it too. I have the opportunity to be challenged by some older GM stuff. To the point. I've used this thing, I've dropped this thing, and I've gotten some good answers from this thing.I like this unit and am glad I bought it. If you intend to use more than once in a great while for some mystery that lights up your indicator by all means buy one. For those that tinker under the hood you already know changing one thing causes a change in lots more and this unit will help you track down the ripple effect of problems.

Actron CP9145 scanner

This unit has been a god send for diagnosing my multiple vehicles. It has been a valuable tool in saving me money on repairs as I do not need to go to a garage to have simple diagnostics done. The only complaint so far is getting help from the manufacturer as the supplied cd does not work with Apple computers and I cannot get a reply from Actron themselves. Beside that it was a very good investment.

Actron CP9145 This thing works, period!!!!

I am not a handy person and do not like to read through the manual. I even called the help line after I received the product and read the manual a couple of times (even though I do not like it). I never repair my car myself and do not plan to do it. However, I would like to know what is wrong with my car when the check engine light is on before I take it to the dealership. I just want to be safe by not ignoring serious problems.

This thing works perfectly. The most difficult part of using this tool is to bend down and hook it up (no need to use any other tools). The rest will take about 2 minutes. So far (since Friday), I have canceled 3 lights (98 nissan, 02 VW Golf - twice, 01 Toyota Corrola with a rebuilt 02 engine). None of those car have serious problems.

Actron CP9145 Great tool!

I purchased this unit specifically to use with my '94 Corvette, which has an in-between on-board-diagnostics setup. This year Corvette has some OBDI and some OBDII functionality and has an OBDII connector. The Actron works perfectly with the Corvette. I also tried it on my Toyota Highlander and it worked just peachy for that as well. The unit appears to be well built and solid. I'm really pleased that I purchased it.

Actron CP9145 Great product-versatility with a reasonable price

I purchased this to avoid the cost of check engine light diagnosis for my Lexus IS. My friends at the NAPA recommended an Actron scanner but didn't carry a model with both pre- and post-1996 code reading capabilities. I purchased the CP9145 so I could diagnose my tuned-port retrofitted 69 Camaro should the need arise. The accessory cords are about fifty dollars each which seems a little pricey so if you plan to work on a variety of pre-1996 computer equipped vehicles I would recommend buying the scanner kit, which includes all the accesory cables, it is a better deal. I have not taken the time to explore all the options available on the reader but I find my experience so far to be positive. This device does not satisfy the needs of more complex diagnostic tasks that require voltage and resistance measures for specific sensors but has proven more than adequate, with a little help from a automotive parts professional, to tackle my problems.

Actron CP9145 Worked for me

I had the check engine light on my Dodge Neon and I scanned it and deleted the diagnostic and the light has not come back on. So it did what I needed it to do.

Actron CP9145 Auto Scanner

I used it twice now to help fix my car. Very easy to use. You can buy the attachments to make it work for older cars too. Great buy from Amazon. On one occasion I was able to get the reading telling me the O2 sensor was out.
I took it to a mechanic letting him know that what was wrong. He replaced the O2 sensor and everything worked well. Great for keeping the mechanics honest.

Actron CP9145 Review

I purchased this product to read a 2004 Toyota Tacoma engine light that came on at 65000 miles. Worked great. CP9145 told me I had a p0136 code. O2 sensor was not working. I purchased the replacement part and fixed the error. I was nice not to be "blind" to the vehicle codes.

My scanner has performed flawlessly! The biggest problem is the operator, me. It is taking me time to read all the info available. So far the cars I've check haven't had any problems so it has been simply hooking up and reading the info to verify there aren't any codes to indicate problems. Milt Anderson

Actron CP9145 Handy device -- Saves $$$$

We had a warning light that kept coming on in our vehicle and as a result we failed inspection. We bought this, hooked it up to the vehicle and found out what the code meant. Looked it up online and knew exactly what was wrong with the vehicle. With the help of the Chilton's manual, fixed the vehicle with a part that cost $7. Owning this device prevented us from having to go to the shop, having them put the same equipment on the vehicle and charging us $100 to tell us the same thing we found out. I bought this to find out what codes were coming up do to a check engine light. Worked very well and has been very useful since, if your into do it yourself car repair. The biggest benefit is reading the codes, clearing the codes and turning off the check engine light.

Actron CP9145 Quality, the right features and user-friendly

I've been in the automotive repair industry for almost 20 years. I was a technician for over 1/2 of it. The CP9145 does exactly what it says it will do. I've used it while driving to read live data and diagnose a problem. At 1/3rd the cost of those "BIG NAME" tool-manufacturers I was sceptical at first. I'm happy I took the chance.

Actron CP9145 Good for the money and for the function

Does what it's supposed to, and does it well. At the price that was in effect when I bought it from Amazon.com (substantially reduced from its original price), it's a better value than the competitive products from other manufacturers. I'd have liked it to do diagnosis on transmission and Auto-HVAC and to change factory settings on operational functions where applicable, but then again, the machines that can do that cost in the thousands of dollars.

I have spent hundreds of dollars for auto service over the last few years trying to keep our three cars running. Every time a check engine light comes on the repair bills have averaged $200-$300 per episode. The last trouble light turned out to be a loose gas cap and the dealer was kind enough to only charge me $80. With this scanner I was able to identify the faulty part and replace for less than $60 so it paid for itself with the first use.
The scanner is easy to use and has very straight forward menus. The scanner also works on OBD I and II cars, but make sure you have the right cables. Amazon also has the lowest price for this model.
